Mandatory Electronic Invoicing in Germany: What Does the Legislation Say?
With the approval of the Wachstumschancengesetz by the Bundesrat on March 22, 2024, and the publication of the guidelines by the German Ministry of Finance in October 2024, all companies in Germany will need to be able to receive electronic invoices in recognized formats such as XRechnung and ZugFeRD, as well as other accepted electronic formats, including XML and Edifact.
Starting from January 1, 2025, structured electronic invoices became the default standard for German businesses. It became mandatory to accept B2B invoices in formats that comply with the EN 16931 standards, ensuring uniform alignment with European regulations. Legalinvoice: The Simple Solution for Electronic Invoicing Thanks to the collaboration with Billit and its extensive experience in the industry, InfoCert aims to become a European reference point, now expanding to Germany.
