2024 Gartner Market Guide for Decentralized Identity
InfoCert is glad to have been nominated as a Representative Vendor in Decentralized Identity by Gartner in its Market Guide for Decentralized Identity 2024.
According to Gartner, “security and risk management leaders have long been responsible for identity data that is both centralized and federated, but now need to prepare for the democratization of identity data through decentralization.”
What is meant by decentralized identity?
Decentralized identity models allow for larger relationships in an ecosystem model between many organizations. The same Digital Identity can be used in several industries enabling the user to enjoy a comprehensive digital experience to be: holistic, seamless, secure, contactless and reusable.
This is a paradigm shift in how we perceive and manage digital identities. Unlike conventional models where third parties control and validate our identities, a Decentralized Digital Identity model empowers individuals with control over their personal information.
Each can decide whether and when to share its attributes with third-party entities and has full control over them.
Gartner Key Findings
Among the main findings of the Guide compiled by Gartner are 3 main aspects:

The market for digital identity is evolving as more vendors provide products. These range from digital wallets devoted to payments to offerings that support cryptocurrency and verifiable credentials (VCs) containing identity data.
Some governments are making significant moves toward developing identity wallets, having begun with implementations to track COVID-19 vaccinations and continued by introducing mobile driver’s licenses, national ID cards and digital passports. These developments are culminating in a variety of DCI use cases.
